Anyone ages 11 to 15 years old can participate in this class. Participants can gain the knowledge and skills to be a confident caregiver to infants and school-age children. This class uses video, activities, hands-on skills training and discussion for a complete learning experience. The training educates the participant on how to respond to emergencies, make decisions under pressure, communicate with parents to learn household rules, recognize safety and hygiene issues, manage children, feeding, diapering and caring for infants.
The participant will receive a student handbook upon registration which will be theirs to keep and use each time they are babysitting. The cost for this class is $25.00 for a Minooka/Channahon resident, $30.00 for a non-resident.
Please download and fill out the registration form. Bring the completed registration form and the non-refundable payment by registration deadline to the appropriate fire department Monday through Friday, 8am to 4pm. Registration forms and payments will not be accepted via mail, after 4pm or on weekends. Phone calls for pre-registration will not be accepted. Class placement is on a first come, first serve basis.
