The Minooka Fire Protection District deploys highly trained water rescue technicians prepared for both surface and underwater emergencies. Working in close coordination with neighboring departments, our teams ensure every responder is properly trained, equipped, and mission-ready when seconds matter most.

Our year-round training cycle reflects the dynamic nature of water rescue. In the spring, crews focus on swift water operations. Summer and fall emphasize dive response and boat operations. During the winter months, training shifts to ice diving and surface ice rescue. No matter the season, our personnel are prepared to respond to any water-related emergency.

Minooka and the surrounding communities are bordered by several major waterways, including the Des Plaines River, DuPage River, I & M Canal, and Aux Sable Creek, along with numerous lakes and ponds. These waterways also support chemical and industrial facilities, as well as both commercial and recreational boating activity—particularly along the Des Plaines River. This diverse and active water environment makes a highly capable water rescue team essential to protecting our community.
