BOARD OF TRUSTEES
The Board of Trustees is the governing body of the fire district. Minooka Fire Protection District is governed by a five member board of trustees comprised of residents of Minooka Fire Protection District. Each trustee is appointed by the County Board of each of the three counties (Grundy, Kendall and Will) the District boundaries include, by proportion of population and serve in their position for three year terms. Currently, three board members are appointed by the Grundy County Board where the majority of the Fire District population resides, with one each of the remain two board members being appointed by Kendall and Will County Boards, respectively.
BOARD OF FIRE COMMISSIONERS
The Board of Fire Commissioners is the administrative body vested with the responsibility to make appointments and promotions to rank and to hear employee disciplinary charges and appeals of suspensions against full-time members of the fire protection district. Fire Commissioners are appointed by the Fire District Board of Trustees and must reside within the Fire District. Commissioners serve three years terms of office.
FIREFIGHTER PENSION BOARD
The Pension Board of the Minooka Firefighters Pension Fund is the governing board of the Downstate Firefighters Pension Fund for Minooka Firefighters. The Board is vested with the responsibility to govern the pension process per Illinois Statute, and to manage and administer pension funds. Board members are comprised of two members elected from and by the members of the pension fund, a retired member of the fund and two members from at-large population appointed by the President of the Board of Trustees.
