Represent and Solve problems involving addition and subtraction.
1.OA.1 Use addition and subtraction withing 20 to solve word problems involving situations of adding to, taking from, putting together, taking apart, and comparing, with unknowns in all positions, e.g., by using objects, drawings, and equations with a symbol for the unknown number to represent the problem.
Measurement and Data
Measure lengths indirectly and by iterating length units.

Lesson Goal:
Students will understand that some toys and electronics have rechargeable batteries that need to be charged in a safe place, and that they should ask a grown-up before plugging anything in.
Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
- Identify common toys and electronics that use rechargeable batteries
- Explain that batteries need to be charged to work
- Recognize safe charging places (flat, hard surface) and unsafe places (like a bed or couch)
